Thinking Day At Westminster Abbey

On Friday 23rd February 2007, three Senior Section members, Holly Bassett, Fran Down and Rachel Butterfield all travelled to London to start preparing for their big day on Saturday, World Thinking Day at Westminster Abbey. All three girls from Essex North East had the prestigious honour of being selected to act as colour Party for the Anglia Standard during the Service.

As this was the Scout Centenary Year, tickets were like gold-dust but each of them had the privilege of being given a ticket to invite a guest so Fran and Holly invited their mum's, Julie and Nicki who are Guiders within Witham Division, and Rachel invited Caroline, also a Guider, to come along. This was a very special special occasion for everyone and all three Guiders were extrememly proud of the girls. It was also a memorable occasion for Nicki Bassett who last attended Thinking Day at Westminter Abbey in 1977, TThe Queens Silver Jubilee year as a Guide herself and now had gone full circle to attending as a Guider in 2007.

The service was well thought out, light hearted yet thought provoking, enjoyable and fun with lots of interaction for all who attended. A marvellous opportunity for Rachel, Holly and Fran who carried out their duty with dignity and honour and were a credit to their parents, Divisions, County and Region.
